What students and families have to say about their experiences with Dr. Jessica Timman Schwefel:
I took voice lessons from Jessica as a senior in high school, seeking a new teacher who could give me the classical background I needed in order to audition for college voice programs. She helped me prepare songs for auditions as well as competitions, introduced me to new languages, coached me on my songs for my high school musicals, worked through technique problems, and equipped me with the skills I needed to effectively practice and work independently. She also provided indispensable advice regarding my college audition process from the very beginning and until the week I left for school, including insights on the programs and faculty of the schools to which I applied. I am now studying vocal performance at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and am endlessly grateful to Jessica for getting me on the right track. She is a wonderful teacher, performer and individual and is a joy to work with. -Kristina Rodel, former student and graduate with a Voice Performance Degree from the University of MN- Twin Cities
Jessica is an engaging, dynamic and supportive teacher and coach. My daughter's skills in both voice and piano have grown consistently with the instruction that Jessica provides. Jessica is providing my child with the correct style and technique that she will need as she pursues her desire to become a well-rounded musician. I highly recommend Jessica. - The Hannibal Family, McFarland
Our daughter has experienced exceptional vocal music growth while studying with Jessica Lee Timman. Her extensive knowledge of vocal technique has been instrumental in helping to develop the skills our daughter needed to perform confidently and successfully in a college level audition setting. Jessica is more than a vocal teacher...she has been a mentor, who recognized our daughter's natural singing ability and musical talent. - Sheryl Leemon, parent of Brittney Leemon who graduated with a Voice Performance degree from Luther College
My daughter has grown in her confidence and technique since starting lessons with Jessica. I recall a solo & ensemble judge who commented that she could tell my daughter was being professionally trained and that it was clear her teacher was doing a great job. I personally find Jessica very accessible and easy to work with. I also appreciate the reminders when tuition is coming due. She communicates important events through newsletters, and showcases her students at twice-yearly recitals. These recitals are also a great opportunity to see Jessica perform! She's very talented and passionate about her teaching. - Fran Pfefferkorn, parent of Anna Pfefferkorn, who graduated with a BFA Music Theatre degree from Peck School of the Arts at UW-Milwaukee
I came to Jessica as a senior in high school, hoping to get into the music program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Jessica was very helpful and knowledgeable and I was able to learn so much just in the first month or so of taking lessons. She is a wonderful voice teacher, very positive and encouraging. After taking lessons with her, I was admitted to the music program at UWEC. She is a fantastic person to work with, and I am so happy that I was able to learn from such an incredible teacher. -Caley Polipnick, music teacher and graduate of UW-Eau Claire
Jessica is an amazing teacher. She is passionate about music and that shines through in her teaching. I was continually impressed with how she was able to connect to my son's passions (Star Wars, Legos) and bring them into his lessons. Her style is innovative and creative, engaging yet firm. She provided my son with a great technical foundation and encouraged him to find his own love of music. I feel it is important to mention that Jessica is active in her own career outside of teaching, performing locally year-round. My son found Jessica's work to be inspiring because he could see first-hand how she was applying the concepts she was teaching him (dedication, practice, hard-work, passion). - The Braun Family, McFarland
Our daughter Ella tends to thrive when she makes a personal connection with her teachers, but when we first started her in piano lessons, that just wasn't happening. Once we found the Timman Music Studio, everything changed: it's not just that Jessica is teaching Ella how to play, it's that she makes it *enjoyable*. But Jessica also expects her students to work hard, and this is helping Ella not only learn piano more effectively, but grow as a person as well. Her piano lessons are now an integral part of her overall education. I honestly can't say enough about Jessica's approach to teaching music: it's been a privilege for our first daughter to learn with her, and once our second is old enough, she'll be going as well. -The Gletty-Syoen Family, McFarland
Jessica has worked with our daughter from the beginning of her Piano education till now. Jessica has been a great teacher and runs a good operation out of her house. The piano recitals have all been well done and Jessica likes to add a personal touch to each one. She is a very impressive vocalist and that carries over into her Piano teaching as well. It has been a joy seeing our daughter blossom these last few years with her piano playing and I believe it is now a point of pride with our daughter. -The Strattan Family, McFarland
We originally came to Jessica’s studio to be closer to home. What a local treasure we discovered! Jessica’s talents are abundant and her teaching style is warm and encouraging. Our seven year old now loves to practice the piano. We couldn’t be happier! - The Ceelen Family, McFarland
I have studied voice with Jessica for about a year and half now and it has been a whirlwind of experiences. She has so much to offer as a teacher inside the studio. She builds your music strengths while also keeping a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. You have some leisure as to what you may what you want to study but also keeps you structured enough to gain a great knowledge of music. I came to Jessica looking for a little help on the side while preparing for my musicals, honor choirs, show choir, and many other activities. After studying with her my confidence, endurance, and love for music grew immensely. I feel honored to study with her regularly and have such an experienced person by my side. Leaving her studio makes me feel great and accomplished. - Patrick Bailey, former student
I had studied with a few other voice teachers before Jessica, but I really feel like I learned the most from her in the shortest amount of time. I love how she incorporates sight reading and breathing work into my lessons; this makes me feel like I am really training my voice and not just working on songs. She's professional and fun, and I always come out of a lesson feeling like I learned something. -Abigail Graf, Student
