EXPECTATIONS While your lesson is designed to be fun and enjoyable, all students are expected to make a commitment to their musical studies. The quickest road to improvement and development as a musician is through consistent, productive practice habits. At home, students are expected to practice 30 minutes/five days a week dependent on age/ability.
Since lessons are scheduled back-to-back, it is important to arrive on time to your lesson. If you arrive late to your lesson, you will not be able to make up missed time at a later date. To be safe, you may want to show up a few minutes early to ensure you receive your full lesson time.
Please show up with your music, notebook, and a pencil at your lesson. Students are encouraged to bring recording devices to their lessons.
Tuition Tuition at Timman Music Studio are set at a standard rate in the Madison Area. Please contact Dr. Timman directly about rates. You will need to reserve a regularly scheduled weekly lesson. Your lesson slot will be reserved on a semester basis. Tuition is due by the first lesson of the semester. Billing will be sent out via Music Teacher's Helper. Please be advised that the cost of books is not included with tuition. You are welcome to contact Dr. Timman by phone or email to inquire about the cost and availability of lessons. Tuition installments paid 14 days late will result in termination of lessons. All accounts will receive two courtesy emails and a phone call before termination. Should something come up where you cannot financially fulfill your financial commitment to your or your child’s music lessons, I appreciate and encourage advance notice and open, ongoing communication.
CANCELLATION POLICY Since you are reserving a weekly spot in the studio, it is expected that you will make music lessons a priority and schedule other activities around your lesson time. Please arrange ahead of time to make your lessons a priority.
Each student is guaranteed 2 “free passes” per semester. This means, that you can have two absences of your choice each semester. A free pass can only be used if you notify me in advance of your absence by phone, email or text. Out of courtesy for the teacher, please email or call as soon as possible to notify me of your absence. 24-hour advanced notice is appreciated, when possible. Since this is a weekly agreement, you are still expected to pay for your regularly scheduled lesson time for any further absences beyond the two permitted. Any lesson that the teacher cancels will be automatically refunded. Multiple “no-show” lessons (any lessons missed without prior notice) may result in removal from the studio.
Students who are not signed up for weekly lessons will be held to the 24-hour cancellation requirement. If you cancel in less than 24-hours, you will be billed for the lesson.
